NITA WHITAKER, former Miss Louisiana, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, then went on to become a favorite singer of legendary producer David Foster.  Having toured with the great Andrea Bocelli and trumpeter Chris Botti, she has also sung the original demos for the Whitney Houston standards “I Have Nothing”, I Will Always Love You”, “I Look to You”, and Josh Groban’s “You’re Still You”.

In addition to being a Hall of Fame Star Search Grand Champion Winner, Nita was recently a finalist on NBC’s “The Winner Is, and has performed on stage in three world premier musicals; “Ragtime”, “Me and Mrs. Jones” (with Lou Rawls and Darlene Love) and “Ten Commandments the Musical” (playing Val Kilmer’s wife). Her screen credits include, “The Bodyguard”, “Lush Life”, and Emmy winning “Please God I’m only 17”.

In 2013, Nita penned a national award winning book titled “Finding My Voice”, and later started a 501c3 non profit (www.inaworldwithbooks.org) which gives books to underserved children. To date, more than 2700 children have been served. Her 2014 project, a holiday treasure titled “Keep a Little Christmas“: has garnered critical acclaim which she produced. Nita is the mother of two amazingly talented goddesses, Skye and Liisi LaFontaine who are emerging, brilliant artists. The best is yet to come.
